In the heart of the Muskwa-Kechika’s 15.8 million acres of protected green space lies 2.5 million acres of remote wilderness nestled in the mountain range accessible only by aircraft. Welcome to Scoop Lake Outfitters, where sound wildlife management and land use protection plans provide an incredible opportunity for the Stone’s sheep hunt of a lifetime. This is the area that Jack O’Connor hunted and last wrote about. This guide area has produced many record-book rams in past years.

Your hosts Darwin and Wendy Cary, and their daughters Tiffany and Trina will assist you with the hunt of a lifetime. Darwin is second generation outfitter, his parents started outfitting in this region back in the 50's. Wendy has been in the area for over 30 years, and their girls have been raised there.

Scoop Lake sheep hunts consist of one guide and one hunter and are usually assisted by a wrangler and/or a cook. Sheep are spread throughout their entire guide area. They have 21 different camps with cabin facilities, which they use for hunting all species. Sheep hunts begin from one of these cabins equipped spike camps. If a client is not successful in the early portion of the hunt, however, it may become necessary to take a tent and spike camp out further from the cabin camp. Their guides are some of the best.

Scoop Lake Outfitters has successfully harvested the majority of its quota over the past ten years. With average horns of 37″ with bases of 14"-14 1/2″, their sheep have true Stone’s sheep colorings and you will find that their capes are quite dark. Even so, you will find a variety of color tones. Most of their rams have their lamb tips, giving them the majestic Stone’s sheep appeal, but some rams do broom off.  The Scoop Lake policy is to find rams over 8 1/2 years in age or full curl. On a typical hunt a client can anticipate seeing sheep every day. In 2024, 12 hunters harvested 11 rams, including one B&C ram and 3 rams over 39 3/4". In 2023, 14 hunters took 13 rams.
